My son is getting to the age where he really likes trendy clothes. I thought that having boys would mean that they would not worry about how they look, but it seems like boys worry about it more than girls these days. I have decided that it is best if I just let him buy, his own clothes and so I have given him a clothing allowance and also the opportunity to earn more money by helping me out with chores around the house. I am hoping that it will teach him the value of money and also allow him to fit in with his friends. I think there is nothing worse than a teenage boy having his clothes bought for him by his mother! I still have to do the boring stuff like school uniform but he can get the rest. Recently he has got himself one of the Dark Knights T shirts and I have decided to surprise him by getting him The Office T shirt for his birthday as I know he wants one but is reluctant to spend money on them as he is saving up for some Family Guy merchandise. He is being sensible about it and making sure that he has enough clothes to wear before he buys expensive items and I do think it is teaching him a lot about sensible spending.
